If you’ve been keeping up with my recent hair posts, they have been all about protective styles! From box braids to smaller singles, over the winter I really focused on keeping my hair protected. As we move into the spring, I am still focusing on keeping my hair protected, but also am liking the flexibility that this easy protective style gives me. A couple days pulled back in this style and then I’m ready to switch it up and let my hair down! And with this style its totally doable, check out my current favorite hairstyle.
As you can see, I really do like this style, in the last few weeks I’ve probably worn my hair like this 3 or 4 days out of the week. It is so easy to do in the evening and be able to wake up and go for the next few mornings. Not to mention, I think this is a polished braided look that I feel confident wearing to work.I like to do this easy protective style on clean hair that has a hearty coat of conditioner and coconut oil, leave the style in for a few days, so when I take it down I give it a quick rinse and have bouncy, moisturized hair for the next few days. So in addition to being a great protective style, it is also a great deep conditioning session. Wins all around.
Steps
- Part clean, moisturized hair. I like to use shea moisture leave in or curly, and shea moisture jamaican black castor oil around the crown of my hair.
- Braid both sections back into two cornrows. And then tie the braids together into a ponytail at the nape of your neck.
- a) Unbraid hair up to the ponytail. Then create a bun with the loose hair. b) or if you want a big, dramatic bun, unbraid hair, then use clip ins to add volume to the bun. After clipping in the desired amount of hair around your ponytail, create a bun.
- Pin down the bun with bobby pins, adjust and fluff hair until you have the volume desired.
Check out my other braided protective style posts here & here, and a similar style with twists here. I’ve been contemplating doing YouTube videos on my hairstyles, would anybody be interested in watching me do video tutorials of my hairstyles?
