A few years into my heat free lifestyle, I found myself wanting a change and wanting to give my curls a break from the frequent wash and go’s that I depend on. What could I do that would protect my hair and give me a few minutes back each morning? Yep, that’s right, I got box braids.
And boy, did I make the right decision. Aside from the look, which I love, these braids make getting ready each morning easier than I could have thought. With winter coming, I was dreading getting up, styling my hair, and going out in the cold with wet hair. My braids are truly the perfect protective style solution for this. I am able to roll out of bed and get ready without having so much as a thought about my hair!
I’ve been styling my hair in this half up top-knot style most days. It’s a super stylish look that is easy and practical for work. I’m going to explore other styles over the coming weeks, and will continue to update!
Here are a few more details on my braids-
- My braider, Slim, took about 4 hours to complete my braids
- We used Rapunzel length braiding hair to achieve my length
- I use a spray conditioner to keep my hair moisturized. Since I have a dry scalp, a spray conditioner is necessary to reach and get everything nice and moisturized. I like Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner Spray
- My hair has been in for 2 weeks, and I plan to leave my hair in for 6 weeks
Stay tuned for more as I explore new styles I try out on my braids.
