Poshmark, the social selling app, has changed fashion for me! I want to share my experience, as well as a few tips I’ve found to be important.
I’d had the app for a few years, but about 6 months ago really made the decision to give it a go. 6 months later, I’m hooked!
Poshmark is perfect for me because I am a horribly impulsive shopper and I found myself with countless items of clothing with tags that I was never going to wear. I listed dresses and tops that I thought I was going to wear, and held on to season after season, knowing deep down that I was never going to wear it!
I signed up initially, just to get rid of these items, but it has since then evolved into more.
Living in the Silicon Valley, a very wealthy area, I said, hmmm maybe I should check out my local goodwill. Sure enough, I hit the jackpot! My first goodwill haul was filled with J. Crew, J Brand, Club Monaco, and more. Since then, I have made frequent trips to search for goodies to list in my closet.
I also have another place I’ve made a few hauls, my sister’s closet! Sharing the profits for those items, I am able to increase my inventory and include a few more designer pieces.
Beyond selling, I’ve purchased some amazing finds. While I try not to purchase too much (I am trying to save money here!) I have gotten some amazing items at great prices.
Poshmark is what you make it. With more effort and dedication, comes increased sales.
Cover shots matter! My first couple listings were nothing fancy. Putting some effort into a cover shot, be it a modeling picture, a lay flat scene, or hanging item, putting effort goes a long way to get your photos noticed
Share, share, share! I constantly share, which, in turn encourages others to spread the love and share my items. This creates a community of supporting others.
Be Prompt. When responding to questions and offers, do so in a timely manner! Early on I missed out on a few sales because I was slow to respond. Same goes for after making a sale. Quickly send out your items, nobody wants to wait a long time to receive items and the quicker you send it, the quicker you will get your earnings from the sale
Be yourself, and show a little personality! There are people on the app who don’t interact like they’re dealing with people. With comments like, “lowest” or “trade,” they aren’t encouraging real interactions. Show a little personality and have genuine interactions, and a guarantee you will have a better experience.
