I recently added LED backlighting to my TV, and it’s one of those small upgrades that makes a big difference. It instantly changed the feel of the room—adding warmth, a softer glow, and a more finished look to the space. If your home leans natural like mine, this is an easy way to layer in light while keeping everything cohesive.

Why I Tried It
My space is filled with plants, wood tones, and natural textures, so I’m thoughtful about how I introduce new elements. I wanted a little extra light in the evenings—something subtle that would make the room feel more intentional.
Backlighting ended up being the perfect fit. It enhances the space and adds a soft, ambient layer that complements everything already in place.
What You’ll Need
- LED light strip (look for one sized for your TV)
- Power source (usually USB or outlet)
- Optional: remote or app-controlled lights for color adjustments
How to Install It
1. Clean the back of your TV
Wipe down the surface so the adhesive sticks properly.
2. Map out your placement
Most strips go around the perimeter of the back of the TV. I kept mine close to the edges for an even glow.
3. Stick and secure
Peel and press the strip along the back, working slowly so it stays straight.
4. Plug it in
You can connect it to your TV’s USB port so it turns on and off with your TV, or use a wall outlet for more flexibility.
5. Adjust the lighting
A warm, soft white creates a cozy, elevated feel that blends beautifully with natural materials.

The Final Look
The glow behind the TV softens the contrast of the screen and brings a cozy, layered feel to the room. It adds a sense of intention to the space while keeping everything warm and inviting.
The strip I chose also has a sound-activated setting, which has been a fun bonus. The lights move with the music, and since I love playing music through my TV, it adds a really dynamic, immersive feel.
A Few Tips
- Use warm lighting to keep the space feeling cozy and elevated
- Place the strip close to the edges for an even glow
