Every winter I seem to pick knitting back up, more evenings staying in the house leaves me with an itch to stay productive. My basket of yarn keeps growing year after year, and I noticed that the bottom is filled with half or smaller balls of yarn. I started thinking of things to do with these half used balls of yarn and stumbled upon yarn wall art.
Perfect for a space that needs to be filled beside my bed
Using a variety of textures and colors, I tried a couple different types of wall hangings I first made the larger, but unfortunately, it is just too large for the space I have.
I took note from Honestly WTF on creating the tassels. They have a great tutorial if you are interested. Craft stores and home improvement stores have wooden dowels for cheap, and a home improvement store will cut it to the lengeth you desire.
Since I had more yarn leftover, I wanted to take a stab at creating different types of hangings with the same color scheme. Next, I made this little cutie, and it is perfect. I used the bottom part of a wood hanger as the dowel.
Love the textures together.
Last, I did a twisted variation of the tassel. This kind of tassel makes cute garlands that can be hung on a mantel or in a small space.
Wall hangings are such an easy way to update a space! I can’t wait to make another when I’m ready for a new look.
